The methodology sheet

Approach, dimensions and techniques

The Material: there are ten Rorschach Tables; originally about fifteen were chosen, later reduced to ten for reasons of editorial economy: five monochromatic (gray); two bichromatic (red and gray); and three polychromatic, all symmetrically arranged with respect to an imaginary central axis.

Rorschach’s choice to use symmetrical blots stemmed from a desire to make them simpler and thus easier to interpret globally. As he had already verified by proposing non-symmetrical Tables, he wanted to prevent the subject from dismissing them by calling them precisely an “inkblot.”

Subsequently other scholars : Behn-Eschemburg together with Rorschach himself; Drey- Fucs; Kataguchi; Parisi- Pes have developed new sets of blots called Parallel thus enabling immediate re-testing on the same subject or conducting the survey even with possible simulators, instructed beforehand on how to respond to the Test.

The Tables were named Be-Ro (1941), Fu-Ro (1958), Ka-Ro (1963), Parisi-Pes(1989)
